Next week the 9th edition of BCBT will start!
This BCBT2016 edition is organized in collaboration with the EU projects socSMCs (Socializing Sensorimotor Contingencies) http://socsmcs.eu/ - A FET Proactive Horizon 2020 funded research project. The summer school has been part of a series of events organized by the European coordination action Convergent Science Network of Biomimetics and Neurotechnology (http://csnetwork.eu/). Since 2008, the school is hosted by the group SPECS at the Unversitat Pompeu Fabra campus of PobleNou
BCBT is positioned at the interface between biology and future and emerging technologies with an emphasis on the principles underlying brains and their translation to avant-garde technologies. This is the 9th year of BCBT, which ran with great success in previous years thanks to an excellent line-up of outstanding speakers (see http://bcbt.upf.edu/ for previous editions of the school)
Participants. This year the BCBT will see the participation of about 50-60 people including 35 students from Europe and worldwide. The atmosphere of the school is informal with the goal to stimulate in-depth discussion. Talks take place in the morning, usually only 2, with the afternoons reserved for tutorials and projects for students or further discussion for senior scientists.
For the 2016 edition we have planned a 1st week (5th-9th Sept) addressing "Neural basis of social interaction " while the 2nd week (12th - 16th Sept) will be addressing "Socializing Sensorimotor Contingencies".
