Many fields can profit from the introduction of robots, including that of education. In this paper, our main focus is the advancement of the Synthetic Tutor Assistant (STA), a robot that will act as a peer for knowledge transfer.We propose a theory of a tutoring robotic application that is based on the Distributed Adaptive Control (DAC) theory: a layered architecture that serves as the framework of the proposed application. We describe the main components of the STA and we evaluate the implementation within an educational scenario.
