Research Assistant in Psychophysiology

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position within an established research programme. The research group focuses on synthetic methods to study and synthesize the 
neuronal, psychological and behavioural principles underlying perception, emotion and cognition. The research Assistant position will concentrate on the research area of 
The position will be based in Barcelona (Spain). It is a pre-requisite to have been accepted to the UPF ICT PhD programme. The selected candidate will join the UPF ICT PhD programme in October 2016.
The post holder will play a key role in a programme of research which studies how human react to various uni- and multisensory signals – visual, auditory and tactile stimuli. We assess human responses at different levels using subjective ratings, behavioral data, physiological and brain wave recordings. This data help us to understand human perception and cognition, with particular stress on the novel methods for diagnosis and treatment of various brain disorders (chronic pain, migraine, autism, depression, Alzheimer's disease). 
The successful candidate should have an academic or technical qualification in a relevant subject with experience in psychophysiology and/or cognitive neuroscience. The candidate will be required to advance the experimental program around anovel theory of multi-level perception and attention called the validation gate hypothesis (Mathews et al 2011;2015). This will include assessment with patients sufferening from neglect and the development of advanced Virtual Reality paradigms.
